Remnants of the B2M show were like last time cept with them performing tracks from their new album The Remedy, thrown in with the classics like On Bended Knee, 4 Seasons of Loneliness, A Song For Mama, I'll Make Love To You and the ever roof-tearing-down rendition of End of the Road. Boyz II Men are definately back again. K-Ci and Jojo's performance brought back memories of their Metro gig back in 03/04 when they were mighty high. Unlike that performance however I was standing right close to the stage, not having to be squashed in with others (well unlike any of other concerts too) and able to see the drops of sweat falling from their faces. The crowd went Crazy with K-Ci sitting atop one of the bouncers walking through the crowd and wanting more brought em back for All My Life. Included in their performance were a few songs from the Jodeci days like Lately and Freek'n U amongst others. It's only a sign of what's in store of the impending tour of Jodeci - now that would really freek me good. It's always impressive to hear at a concert the whole audience knowing every word to the lyrics of the artist's songs and to carry the song through without the artists themselves even singing it. With more than a decade's legacy from artists like K-Ci & Jojo and Boyz II Men this is by far easily achievable. My photos site is currently down so I can't post any pics but see Emily's review for more. She managed to get Jojo's empty water bottle whilst I got splattered in the face by what was in it...

Boy, what can I say! They totally rocked the joint! Scoring 2nd row seats (I'm still surprised at my luck heehe) the view was awesome. I still can't imagine those in the front row paying $175 for nothing extra special and those that went to the second show who paid that much for the first 3 rows!
Anyway, as expected their old school songs totally brought the house down, especially End Of The Road! daayum. And those audience who actually did ring someone and passed their fones onto Nathan and Shawn when they were singing Mama, lucky peeps! Like comments from others that went to the show, would've preferred more of their old school stuff (4 Seasons!) and less of the trilling one-man performances that went on for a bit too long. Mey you missed the rose!! How could you?? heheh better luck next time :) Initially I had doubts about the support act Random (winners of X-Factor) but after watching and listenin to the beatboxing, I can say they were better than expected. Those damn speakers in front of us kinda made the night worse off for my hearing and my heart *thump thump* but it made my recording even worse cos you cant hear anything except when they spoke! (Yes I know, you're not suppose to record em. Oh wells it didnt turn out anyway :) As always I get trigger happy at concerts, and my pics are up here. See Emily for more reviews and pics! Wow.
Can't believe the last post was about this, it was that long ago I don't even remember it. Alicia Keys rocked the house down! Mos definately worth forking out to see her perform live. The pics I took turned out okay, most of them anyway. Others will need to brighten it up to see anything useful. Too tired to post anything else. some other people should be posting about it anyhow. Time to conk out and rest my ears.

Don't think I've been revved up for concerts in a while. Not since Usher's 8701 tour last year anyway.
News out (maybe not new, but new for me :) that Alicia Keys and Maroon 5 are touring end of this year! Maroon 5 Sunday Nov 21 @ Hordern Pavilion and Alicia Keys Monday Oct 25 @ Enmore Theatre. Enmore is such a good venue for her, up close n personal, more so than Hordern. I've always admired piano playing artists, those people being the ones that maybe I could have been (in the art of playing piano anyway). I managed to play up to Grade 7 in the piano before I stopped due to the Higher School Certificate, and never bothered to continue on with it. I rarely play nowadays, though I look for sheet music online to songs I know and think sound good on piano, if it wasnt a piano tune to begin with. Stuff like Alicia Keys(!!), Five For Fighting, Jewel and the like, but I never manage to play it at the pace it really should be. I'm still amazed that I can still play the classical tunes I use to after a few minutes at the keyboard, even though they kinda killed me at the examinations. Now the countdown to Sept 9 and 10.... hmmm hopefully they'll have pre-sales as well. [Bored Update whilst at work] Just read on Alicia Key's website that she is going to perform in China at the Great Wall, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the restoration of the Great Wall. Now that is something I would like to see. That would be one of the most awesome places to hold a concert (no bias there of course :) and watch them perform. I'm surprised that the Chinese government even allowed it. Think I'm more and more inclined to get these tickets now (for Sydney). Mike? :) Tuesday, February 03, 2004
I have finally uploaded my Australian Idol concert photos online on yahoo. Surprisingly, they let me upload all of them, even though they say there's a 30mb limit? Go figure. If you want to view all my photos, message me your yahoo id and ill grant you access to the albums. Otherwise theres too much hotlinking.
Some samples..... Whilst I'm on the topic of hotlinking, I have been getting so many hits the last few weeks from people searching through google image search looking for Jason Mraz pics that I posted up on my blog a while ago. It was actually a link to a photo and not one of the photos I had up. Has there been a sudden urge for people to check him out? I wonder.... Wednesday, January 28, 2004
Deafnessness is all I can say.
Me nor my sis didn't realise the position of our tickets til we were ushered in. Even the usher didnt know where our seats were. Bang smack right in the middle of the 2nd row from the front. Luckily, the 4 seats in front of us were empty so we had perfect view of the stage - minus the camera man of course. Overall .... it was an enjoyable show. 1st half was each person solo singing 2 songs each .. then 2nd half was groups of em singing songs - almost like each of the finals shows, til the end where it pretty much was from the final shows - melody of burn for you, you're the voice, shout et al . Of course the biggest shouts were left for the 2 finalists, and Paulini . .and Cosima (and Millsy from those teenieboppers). Never is a good feeling to be surrounded by screaming teenieboppers. <mental note> bring earplugs to next concert</mental note> Ended up taking almost 200(!) pictures. Had to go out to buy a new 64mb memory card during intermission, not realising the time and that there was 2 halfs and used up the first memory card, trying to delete crap shots, cos my other 32mb card was FUBAR. Pics of the concert might be posted up later... if I can find the space for most of them or reduce the quality if I have the time.. also, due to the conservative photo taking, I could only manage an average 2 shots per Idol in the first half.. which kinda sucked, but splurged it all in the 2nd half to make up for the loss. Australian Idol Live concert is on tonight (Tuesday).
Sister bought me 2 tickets as a Christmas present (yes, I'm a closet Aus Idol fan if you hadn't noticed :P) Since she bought them, she invited herself to come with me. How nice. and American Idol contestants are just wacked out. Wednesday, October 01, 2003
Went out to what was formerly the Heritage Court restaurant which is now a Chinese restaurant out in hurstville.. cos my mum had a recommendation that the food was nice there (and it was quite nice). Looking through the menu, at the bottom of the beef/pork section was Rabbit cooked with home made sauce. Now this was actually during dinner when my sis pointed it out to me.. and it was a lil bit unsettling haha luckily the food tasted good and nothing came out :) Flipping through the takeaway menu, there was also a Sizzling rabbit in hot and spicy sauce and also Deer cooked with home made sauce. I just hope it aint a live and kicking sizzling rabbit that they have jumpin outta the takeaway container ....
something's amiss Saturday night was John Mayer's concert and well.. time flew by for me and before I knew it, the concert was over. I think I was enjoying it too much. Started off with a kick and a bang with Lo-tel electrifying the place.... my ears getting a workout from the load of speakers on the sides, and they performed quite well. For the die hard Mayer fans I guess the concert was great. And being touted as the Heavier Things tour, and performing only 2 weeks after the album release.. there wasn't much time for the regular peeps to get into the groove of things, but having been listening to it for the weeks before the concert I was glad I knew (most) the songs he sung. Highlight of the concert would have been the guitar conversation during Come Back To Bed .. and if he done the 1980 song improvs during 83 as he supposedly did in the Melbourne show that would have rocked the place too. oh well. A die hard fan review by Larissa and a letter to Mr Mayer himself by xtn for your viewing pleasure. For those who do have the Heavier Things album.. does their Time Elapsed/Time Left counter go wacky or issit just me when played on the PC? hmm Saturday, July 26, 2003
Well well well. Ajamedor sent me this link to the Jason Mraz forums where someone stumbled upon the collection of Mraz photos that I uploaded to my webserver, which were taken by Ajamedor heehe
Credit lie where credit is due, and of course it was found out that Ajamedor was the one that took it and I need not explain as he did himself (read the posts heh). But what a small world this world wide web can be.. still trying to figure out how they managed to stumble upon my blog, and the closest thing I get is a google referral that actually came from larissa's blog searching for "jason+mraz+incredible+voice", so even more weird hehe Heeheee Hey, Ajamedor, and a "g'day" to you, too (Australians are too cute aren't they?)! Thank you SOOOOOO much you are too cool for school. Yes, we are too cute aren't we. Too Cool For School *puts his sunnies on* :D Monday, July 07, 2003
Last nights gig was pretty
Ajamedor got quite a few good pics of the gig and the after show signing with pics of Jason, Toca Rivera (the bongo(?) drum player) and the Didgi (didgireedoo (sp)) boy. Heres the CD
The top one is Jason and you can make out Toca Rivera on the bottom. (you can also see my lil intel webcam from the reflection hehe) He also signed the inside cover of the CD which you can actually make out the 'Mraz'
As Ajamedor mentioned, its been 5-6 years since we first chatted to each other and finally actually meeting. Although it had been chatting infrequently before, its nice to meet someone from knowing them for so long ;) And since Larissa managed to pimp Jason Mraz off to him as well and after only listening to a few songs he decides to come along. Uber sweet, I guess the BOGOF offer was too good to refuse :) Also having not seen Larissa since high school (same school in years 11&12) it was nice to see her again after 5years of uni life as well heehe Mraz Reviews. Mey's review Ajamedor's review Larissa's review ;) Other Mraz Pics (thanks Ajamedor :)
It wasn't alright it was pretty goodo. Went to see Jason Mraz at The Metro tonight (last night/late night/early morning) and now im all pooped out. Well standing up in the same spot for about 4 hours got me legs all tired although I usually do that every weekend for work but at least I move my legs then.
I think I shall continue this later when I'm more refreshed. Most likely Larissa will write a rave review about the concert, Ajamedor with his and his load of pics from his beefy camera ;) and Mey who was excited to hear her fave(?) song, You And I Both right at the end :) Brains falling asleep so this amrazing post shall be continued.
