nothing.
nothing much happening lately. nothing much to post about.
bought 512mb RDRAM PC800. 2x256MB sticks. USD$172. Thats my budget for the month no thanks to my Dell pc with specific upgrades. gah. Duno why I bought more memory, just that my friend went over to the US and I felt like getting something and couldnt think of anything else.
got a cold for the past few days. sore throat. blocked nose. runny. blocked. almost blown off.
marked assignments. iffish about being too harsh and too lenient. almost everyone got 14/20. no complaints.
been 'hired' to do some programming for an online project by friends from uni who set up their own company. sounds interesting. deadline in 2 months. 2 programmers. i'm the 2nd. eek.
aussie idol. what a shocker its been. Guy's been one of the only ones I've favoured each week to get through that actually does (not that I voted or anything...). good on ya australia.
damn google. been watching amazing race and i was just bored and did a search for amazing+race. top of the hits revealed the winner. argh!. spoiled it for the rest of the series. i have a habit of doing that. i 'stumbled' upon the ending of season 1 of 24 few episodes before the final. grr.
was bored nuff to add some links to the right. Liven up ya life ya'll! nothing really interesting. some sites i go visit when i'm bored.
peace.
out.

schmanagers
Rung up agent to follow up on my interview last week just now and apparently the clientside managers that need to deal with recruiting are away. Well, one's down in Melbourne this week and another is going away on holiday next week, so they won't have a chance to look at candidates for at least 2 weeks. So he tells me I won't be hearing from him for like 10 days or so. Now why try and hire people when you wont be around to interview or assess candidates. idiots. Add to that, the job ad is still online, which was republished yesterday. Its been online for the past 3 weeks or so, just getting republished every few days to update the advertising date so it appears up top. Why bother.

Narc'd. Mark'd.
Having to wake up nice and early this morning so I could meet up with the lecturer for the subject I tutor for, I found an sms waitin for me on the fone from my sis, 'wear more clothes 2 uni cos its freezing', which luckily didn't wake me up else I would've been more dead than usual. But it didn't look too cold, til I walked outside and found it rather chilly. yes indeed.

Since I had about 3.5 hours to kill between the meeting and class, I decided to catch a movie. Contemplating to watch movies by oneself is always a tough choice, especially when you can't share laughs, jokes and ideas with other people. Decided to Narc it, as I had heard what an indie film it had started off to be then ending up being backed by Tom Cruise's production company, so it must've been something good. Rated R for heavy violence, language and drug use, probably not something you'd like to share with others hehe but the acting and filmwork and storyline was pretty good. Ray Liotta beefed up for this role and you could see why. Funny to see Busta Rhymes in it too, but he was playing the part of a Detroit nigga so what else could you expect. The whole story leads right up to the end, twisting you round and spitting you back out. Was quite good indeed. Compared to the last cop flick I saw, Training Day, which would probably be more worth watching but is more predictable, Narc .. is jus .. different. More in your face than anything.

Going into the cinema it was still nice and sunny. Coming out it was starting to rain. Still is. Damn this weather.

Having never needing to mark others work before, I don't know whether I should be a harsh, brutal picky marker, or the nice, easy marker for these assignments due this week. I see myself as the easy marking type, since I'm an easy person (read: easy going person :), but if I aint harsh nuff then people arent gonna learn so hmm Luckily theres a standard marking criteria which gotta tick off on to award marks so it shouldn't be that bad. Bring. it. on.

Eatin Out
Today's 'interview' didn't seem all too bad. Having all the rooms in the office full so we couldn't eat in (the agent always has food on his mind, so he says) we went out to have "coffee", which I do not drink so hot chocolate for me and english breakfast tea for him - so much for having coffee heh. This was one of the longest, about 40 minutes, of an interview of sorts I've had .. but it didn't feel like one considering it was over coffee and he was talking about the co more than anything else heh. Says I might be someone the client is looking for so hmmmm gotta wait til next week to find out. In the mean time least I have tutoring. Quiz tomorrow and assignments next week fun fun fun!

Any Given Wednesday
Seems like every time I go out and come back via Hurstville Westfields I seem to buy CDs (yes.. I don't download many songs anymore! :) Today I ended up getting John Mayer's Any Given Thursday album recorded from the Birmingham concert he did last September .. and also Norah Jones Come Away With Me.. don't know why but I just need to spend some $$ Hope its gonna be money well spent heh which I'm sure it is. John Mayer playing in September and thanks to petals for gettin me tix :)

Server maintenance. There will be a planned server outage tonight at 12 midnight (pacific time). This should only last about an hour. Jason G. [8/12/2003 1:37:46 PM]
If I could only work out what pacific time is in relation to AEST then that would be good, but be forewarned - If you can't reach this site, you know why.

Come One, Come All
As the saying goes, it either doesn't come or they all come at once. Had a call this morning from a lecturer at uni who teaches first year software development course requesting if I was interested in tutoring. Sure, why not. Starting TODAY. OK Thanks for the notice. I didn't even know what week at uni it was, I've been out of it for so long.

20 minutes after that call, I receive another one from an agent for a job I applied for last week. Interview tomorrow. swoite. Problem is, if I get a job now I have to stop tutoring. gah. Why does this always appen.

After tutoring today, I think I need to read the lecture notes and catch up cos I can't remember some of the stuff theyre asking, which ain't good from a tutor's perspective. With a quiz this Thursday and an Assignment due next week, this is a jam packed first week. Now I gotta figure out how I get paid. $_$

Winblows
Lucky (if you can call it that) for me there was a lil blackout this morning causing the power to go down in the house, meaning my computer needed to be restarted after a few weeks. That meant it was time to update Windows after not having done so for a while. Having later today hearing news reports (and Ajamedor calling me in the middle of my tute ;) about a worm spreading around using the vulnerability, released last week, in the Windows RPC allowing hackers to remotely access the computer and do whatever it wants, in particular reboot affected PCs, I was glad that I had updated in time. Although I believe I did update that particular vulnerability a few days ago, though there was a few more to go. On top of that, I needed to update virus protection for my comp. Dumb crappy 90day LiveUpdate trial meaning I need to reinstall it every 3 months, which I havn't done since May, so I get new virus definitions. So now, hopefully I'm protected from this Blaster worm and anything new that comes along.

Terminated.
Saw Terminator 3 tonight and it was pretty good, despite what one or two of my friends have said, although not comparable to T2 which was much better probably because it was a James Cameron film. The storyline was hmm alrights, differnt to the previous one, which if I recall correctly (and correct me if I'm wrong) was to prevent Judgement Day, whereas this film brought about Judgement Day as an unavoidable day, and the Terminator was brought back to keep em alive. But now that John Connor's alive and knows that he will die, won't he know that and will try and keep himself alive and not have to face sending a Terminator back in time again to the past of the future of the current time. hmm yes all this time travelling gets thinkin about time-space-continuum events of the past, present and future, which is too much to think.

Haven't seen a Claire Danes film for a while, so it was good to see her, albeit weird in a Terminator film, as she aint the linda hamilton Sarah Connor type of action chic, that I'm use to anyway. Unless her role as Juliet in Romeo+Juliet is counted cos she was using a gun hmm Wonder what her next film will be after her few years oasis from the industry. She'll be back.

Reunion.... of sorts..
Who would have thought organising a high school get together for a friendly game of soccer would be so hard. Was probably a month in planning trying to get most people free for today, and suddenly theres about half a dozen people that couldn't make it at the last minute, forgot/sick/work. So from about 15-20 of us, down to 7 of us. So no soccer game there. We ended up playing brandings, wall ball and handball. Who would've thought that we would need to remember the rules of wallball and handball 5 years down the track from high school heehe Goin back to high school brings back a few memories. Reminiscing over late lunch down at Cronulla, people we knew, people that moved on, people getting married, trying to remember the people we were talking about hehe.

One of the guys that turned up drives an imported Mitsubishi FTO. An aussie white boy. Yes hmm an aussie white boy in a stereotypical asian driven car. weird. Coming home, 2 other guys and myself in the car were trying to think what actual car would suit him, but we couldn't think of one. Lets just say its hard. Supposedly he was tossing between a Subaru WRX or an FTO. hm neither of which would suit him I think.
