stalkage alert
As reported in today's SMH Radar liftout, the Australian Idol's Idol HQ is located at 12 Beaconsfield Parade, Lindfield. Up the Pacific Highway, left after the PO (post office), 100m down the street and the house is on the left. sweeeet.

Now, is anyone near there? :)

the league..
of extraordinary gentlemen and a vampiric scientist. just came home from watching LXG (yes its quite early to watch a movie :) after leaving the car to get fixed cos it was playing up... something wrong with the harmonic balancer thingymajig (dont ask me about cars, I just drive em :) making this rattling noise when you start the car up and if its stationary .. so yeh .. we were gonna take it in to service but it was fully booked for saturday, so what better way to jump the queue than having the car stuff up even more and push in early in the morning heehe
anyhow, LXG was good, but not all it was cracked up to be...

updated to watch list:
Bad Boys II, Tombraider 2: Cradle of Life, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Underworld, Kill Bill - Part 1 (and Part 2 released around February), The Medallion, The Matrix Revolutions (advanced tickets on sale now!), The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

I really should delete those I've watched but yeh, nice to keep track of. the past few months I've seen more movies than I usually do on average in a year..

australia has voted
not great idol hopefuls. Paulini got voted off this week, and Guy was in the bottom 2 with her. I mean, what's with that. I would rather Shannon and Cosima to be in the bottom 2 than them aergh! Just hope Guy wins. Was at Sanity today and saw this Australian Idol Karaoke DVD .. where you can sing along to some tracks, which weren't even covered by the Idols.. more merchandise to scum off us. gah.

bad boyz 4 life
Thanks to the NTEU and the Government's academic reforms, there was a national university staff strike today (which I, of course, did not participate in) and so many students of mine turned up - a big class of one, and me. Ended up watching Bad Boys II and indeed there was quite a lot of body parts flying, shootouts, car chases - one which reminded me of a jackie chan movie when they go down the hill (which I believe the scene was inspired from hmm).. bit long and drawn out .. but what would you expect.

To watch list:
Bad Boys II, Tombraider 2: Cradle of Life, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (er maybe watch), Underworld, Kill Bill - Part 1 (and Part 2 released around February), The Matrix Revolutions (advanced tickets on sale now!), The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

awakening of the underworld.
Went to the preview screening of Underworld at Fox last night and it was quite good. You could see traces of Matrix style filming and gun & fighting action, mixed with a bit of Blade hunting type of movie.. mixed with a bit of werewolf action. Add dark scenery, as the film was completely based at night time (otherwise .. they'd probably all just die....), and picture werewolves vs vampire scenes throughout, add a bit of an unbelievable love story (fall in love over one night?!), the awakening of the vampire elders as a backplot to the main plot, and well that makes the whole movie. It starts off a lil slow, and gathers pace halfway through til the end scene. phwoar. The filmmakers didn't use much CGI, they relied on old fashion puppetry and heavy make up for werewolves n vampires and that made it that much better.

The cast was almost entirely British, with Kate Beckinsale, whos previous movie I only saw her in was Serendipity - a far cry from that role, and she was also in Pearl Harbor which I have not yet seen, and Scott Speedman from Felicity (which, I have also never watched heh) as the main actors. Others, were pretty much unknowns cept if you were a British theatre and movie goer..

Of course, the filmmakers would want to leave room for a sequel .. and that they did. Although with what happens in the movie and the story they tell, how the sequel, if there is one, will turn out .. probably wont be as good. Will wait and see.

feelin old n blue
at work the other night, there was a bunch of 30 odd teenagers who happened to be this years Year 12 from my old high school. it doesn't seem all too long ago that i was in year 12, sitting for my hsc but here they were, a few weeks away from their HSC enjoyin emselves and partying hard. looking back... those teens would have been just starting at school in year 7 when i was in year 12... probably being knocked around by us seniors whilst walking up and down between school sites. so much fun back then. aah the good ol days.

this morning went for my first movie marathon in a couple of years. only to watch Tombradier 2: Cradle of Life mainly as agreed to watch with a friend.. so we decided to watch it at a marathon since we havnt been for so long heh. along with Extreme Ops and The Core... which was .. not so enthralling to watch. Extreme Ops skiing + snowboarding was good though .. just thinking what I could do if i ever could do it heehe Being at the movie marathon, around these lil teenies .. making us feel so old.. only a few years ago there would have been masses of teens.. and we would just be amongst em all. . but no more...

so now my updated to watch list...
Bad Boys II, Tombraider 2: Cradle of Life, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (er maybe watch), Underworld (I scored a preview screening next week w000t!!), Kill Bill - Part 1 (and Part 2 probably in 12 months time), The Matrix Revolutions, The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

Doe a Deer
Went out to what was formerly the Heritage Court restaurant which is now a Chinese restaurant out in hurstville.. cos my mum had a recommendation that the food was nice there (and it was quite nice). Looking through the menu, at the bottom of the beef/pork section was Rabbit cooked with home made sauce. Now this was actually during dinner when my sis pointed it out to me.. and it was a lil bit unsettling haha luckily the food tasted good and nothing came out :) Flipping through the takeaway menu, there was also a Sizzling rabbit in hot and spicy sauce and also Deer cooked with home made sauce. I just hope it aint a live and kicking sizzling rabbit that they have jumpin outta the takeaway container ....

something's amiss
Saturday night was John Mayer's concert and well.. time flew by for me and before I knew it, the concert was over. I think I was enjoying it too much. Started off with a kick and a bang with Lo-tel electrifying the place.... my ears getting a workout from the load of speakers on the sides, and they performed quite well. For the die hard Mayer fans I guess the concert was great. And being touted as the Heavier Things tour, and performing only 2 weeks after the album release.. there wasn't much time for the regular peeps to get into the groove of things, but having been listening to it for the weeks before the concert I was glad I knew (most) the songs he sung. Highlight of the concert would have been the guitar conversation during Come Back To Bed .. and if he done the 1980 song improvs during 83 as he supposedly did in the Melbourne show that would have rocked the place too. oh well. A die hard fan review by Larissa and a letter to Mr Mayer himself by xtn for your viewing pleasure.

For those who do have the Heavier Things album.. does their Time Elapsed/Time Left counter go wacky or issit just me when played on the PC? hmm
